What is PPPK? Indonesia's contract civil servant scheme

PPPK stands for Pegawai Pemerintah dengan Perjanjian Kerja, or Government Employee with a Work Agreement. It is Indonesia’s contract based track into government employment, run nationally by the Badan Kepegawaian Negara (BKN) through the same SSCASN portal used for CPNS, but leading to a different kind of employment relationship.

What PPPK actually means

A PPPK employee works for the government under a fixed-term agreement rather than as a permanent civil servant. Who PPPK recruitment is for

PPPK formations concentrate heavily in roles where the government needs a specific licensed or certified skill immediately: teachers (guru), health workers such as nurses and doctors who hold an active STR (Surat Tanda Registrasi), and technical specialists. How PPPK selection works

PPPK selection also runs through administrative checks first, then a competency test stage. Unlike CPNS’s SKD and SKB split, PPPK’s Seleksi Kompetensi covers four components: technical competency for the specific position, managerial competency, socio-cultural competency, and a structured interview delivered in computer-based form.
