IBPS PO 2026 prelims result out, mains set for 4 October

IBPS declared the CRP PO/MT-XVI 2026 Preliminary Examination result on 23 September 2026. Candidates who sat the prelims on 22 or 23 August 2026 can check their status now.

Qualified candidates move straight to the Mains Examination, scheduled for 4 October 2026. That is a tight turnaround from the result date, about eleven days, so anyone who cleared prelims should already be revising mains-level topics (quantitative aptitude, reasoning, English, general and banking awareness, and computer knowledge) rather than waiting for a formal mains notice; IBPS has not published a separate mains-specific notification beyond the detailed CRP PO/MT-XVI notification issued on 1 July 2026.

The vacancy count behind this cycle

This cycle recruits Probationary Officers and Management Trainees for 11 participating public sector banks, against a revised total of 7,565 vacancies. That figure, and the mains exam date, both come from IBPS’s own published notification and result communications rather than from a single press release, so cross-check your own bank preference list and admit card for anything specific to your registered category or centre.

What happens after mains

IBPS PO selection has three stages: Prelims, Mains, and an Interview conducted by the participating banks (not IBPS directly) after mains results are out. There is no separate skill or typing test in this process, unlike some clerical-cadre bank exams.
