50th BCS result out, 51st BCS special applications open October 1

Two separate BCS cycles moved this month, and it is easy to mix them up if you are tracking both. Here is what is confirmed for each, with a source for every date.

50th BCS: written result out, viva under way

The 50th BCS Preliminary Test was held on 30 January 2026, and its result, published on 10 February 2026, qualified 12,385 candidates out of 290,951 applicants for the written stage, against a circular that advertised 2,150 posts (1,755 cadre and 395 non-cadre).

The Written Examination started on 9 April 2026. Its result, published on 23 July 2026, qualified 6,165 of those 12,385 candidates for the viva voce. The viva stage began on 10 August 2026 and is ongoing; BPSC has not yet published a final merit list date.

If you sat the 50th BCS written exam and are waiting on a viva slot, check the BPSC website or your Teletalk account directly rather than a third-party aggregator, since viva scheduling is rolled out in batches.

51st BCS (Special): applications open 1 October

Separately, BPSC issued the circular for the 51st BCS (Special) Examination on 24 September 2026, recruiting 5,000 posts in the health cadre: 4,700 assistant surgeons and 300 assistant dental surgeons.

Online applications open at 10:00 am on 1 October 2026 and close at 6:00 pm on 25 October 2026, through the BPSC Teletalk portal. Candidates who receive a User ID within that window get a further 72 hours, until 6:00 pm on 28 October, to pay the application fee.

Eligible candidates must be Bangladeshi citizens aged 21 to 32 as of 1 September 2026, and must hold an MBBS or equivalent degree for the surgeon posts or a BDS or equivalent degree for the dental posts. Candidates still awaiting their MBBS or BDS result may apply provisionally, provided every written examination for that degree is completed by 25 October 2026.

The exam itself is a single-stage written test, 200 marks of multiple choice questions followed by a 100-mark viva voce, which the circular reports will be held in Dhaka in November 2026. As with every BCS cycle, that exam date is provisional until BPSC confirms it separately: check the current notification before making travel or leave plans around it.

Where this sits relative to the general BCS cycle

The 51st BCS is a “special” cycle, meaning it recruits into one cadre (health) rather than the full spread of general cadres a numbered BCS normally covers. It runs on its own schedule, independent of when the next general-cadre BCS circular is published. Do not assume clearing or missing the 51st changes your eligibility or attempt count for a future general BCS; they are separate competitions under the same numbered-cycle naming convention.
