What UP Special TET actually is, before anything else
If you found this page searching for a new teaching job in Uttar Pradesh, read this section first: UP Special TET is not a recruitment exam. It is a certification test the Uttar Pradesh Education Service Selection Commission (UPESSC) runs for two specific groups who already hold a teaching position: primary and upper-primary teachers already employed in government, local-body or state-aided schools who never obtained a valid Teacher Eligibility Test certificate, and CWSN (Children With Special Needs) special educators working on contract. Both groups are required to clear this test following a Supreme Court order, to bring their certification in line with the qualification standard the regular CTET or UPTET already requires of newer teachers. There is no vacancy count here in the way UP Police Constable or UP Lekhpal have one, because nobody is being newly hired through this exam.
Do not confuse this with “Super TET,” an entirely different, much larger recruitment exam for new primary teacher posts that has run under a similar-sounding name; the two are unrelated beyond both involving UP teacher recruitment broadly.
Who this exam is actually for
If you are already serving as a primary or upper-primary teacher in a Uttar Pradesh government, local-body or state-aided school and do not hold a TET certificate, you apply using your eHRMS code, the same employee identifier your department already has on file. If you work as a CWSN special educator on contract, you need a graduation degree plus an RCI-recognised D.Ed in Special Education or an equivalent qualification, along with a valid Rehabilitation Council of India registration and your CRR number. The maximum age is sixty years as on the exam date, which reflects who this test is actually for: working teachers, not fresh graduates entering the profession.
How the exam runs
The written examination is one hundred fifty objective questions worth one hundred fifty marks, two and a half hours, with no negative marking reported. Two separate papers exist, matching the standard TET structure: Paper I for teachers of Classes 1 to 5, and Paper II for teachers of Classes 6 to 8. You sit only the paper matching the level you already teach at, not both.
Preparing the application

The application fee is one thousand rupees for General, OBC and EWS candidates, five hundred rupees for SC and ST candidates, and three hundred rupees for PwD candidates.
On exam day
Carry the printed admit card and an original government photo identification matching the name and photo on the admit card. No electronic devices are permitted inside the examination hall.
If you are a fresh graduate, not a serving teacher
This exam is not your route into UP’s teaching workforce. Look instead at CTET for the central certification, or the regular UPTET cycle, and see government exams after graduation for the wider set of entry-level options open to a fresh graduate. If a listing framed this exam as a general recruitment opportunity with a headline vacancy count, that framing does not match what UPESSC’s own notification describes; verify anything you read elsewhere against UPESSC’s own official website, linked above, before acting on it.
