What DSSSB TGT/PGT is
The Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board recruits Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) and Post Graduate Teachers (PGT) into schools run by the Directorate of Education, Government of NCT of Delhi. Unlike KVS and NVS, also covered on this site, DSSSB recruits specifically for Delhi government schools, so its vacancies, posting locations, and pay scale are tied to Delhi rather than a nationwide network with transfer postings across states.
DSSSB also recruits for many other Delhi government posts beyond teaching; this page covers the TGT/PGT teaching recruitment specifically, since that is the post most aspirants researching Delhi government teaching jobs are looking for.
Who can apply
For TGT posts, a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant teaching subject with a B.Ed, along with a qualifying CTET or equivalent score, is required. For PGT posts, a Master’s degree in the relevant subject with a B.Ed, along with a qualifying CTET or equivalent score, is required, as specified in the notification. The general age limit is up to 30 years as on the date specified in the notification, varying by post, with standard relaxations for reserved categories and persons with disability.
How the exam runs
DSSSB conducts a One Tier or Two Tier objective examination, depending on the specific post notified, covering General Awareness, Reasoning Ability, Arithmetical and Numerical Ability, a Test of Hindi and English Language and Comprehension, and subject-specific content and pedagogy relevant to the post applied for, with negative marking for wrong answers as specified in the notification.
There is no interview stage for most TGT/PGT posts: selection is based directly on the written examination score, subject to the category-wise cutoffs DSSSB sets each cycle.
Preparing the application
DSSSB specifies exact photograph and signature requirements in each notification rather than a fixed year to year standard, so check the current notification’s dimensions and file size before uploading. The tools on this site can resize your photograph to whatever specific target the notification states.
On exam day
Arrive at least an hour before the reporting time on your admit card, with the printed admit card and a government photo identification matching the name and photo on the admit card. No electronic devices are permitted inside the exam centre.
The official DSSSB website, linked above, carries the current subject-wise vacancies, syllabus, and schedule for the cycle you are applying to.
