What UIIC AO is
UIIC AO recruits graduates and postgraduates into the Administrative Officer, Scale I cadre of United India Insurance Co. Ltd., a public sector general insurer with a particularly strong presence in South India, headquartered in Chennai. It follows the same general Generalist plus Hindi Officer recruitment shape as its sibling exams at NIACL, NICL and OICL.
Hindi Officer posts exist alongside the Generalist stream in most cycles, each with its own qualification requirement, so check which stream a given notification is recruiting for before assuming Generalist eligibility applies.
Who can apply
A graduate or postgraduate degree in any discipline, with a minimum 60% aggregate (55% for SC, ST and PwBD candidates), is the requirement for the Generalist stream. Hindi Officer posts require a Master’s degree in Hindi or English with the specific bilingual subject combination the notification states. The general age band is roughly 21 to 30 years, “as on” 30 June of the recruitment year, with standard relaxations for reserved categories. How the exam runs
The Preliminary Examination is a one hour test of one hundred questions across English Language, Reasoning Ability and Quantitative Aptitude.
The Main Examination, for the Generalist stream, is a two and a half hour objective test of two hundred questions across English Language, Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness with a financial sector focus, and Computer Knowledge, plus a separate online Descriptive Test. The Descriptive Test runs thirty minutes for Generalist candidates and reportedly longer for Hindi Officer candidates, reflecting the different language-writing demands of that role; both are qualifying rather than counted toward the merit list. Candidates who clear the Main Examination proceed to an Interview.
Preparing the application
Photograph and signature specifications match the rest of the banking and insurance exam family: a JPEG photograph between 20 and 50 kilobytes and a JPEG signature between 10 and 20 kilobytes. The resizers on this site handle both in your browser without uploading anything.
The application fee is typically 1,000 rupees plus GST and service charges for general candidates, and 250 rupees plus GST for SC, ST, PwBD and serving UIIC employees, confirmed against the current notification.
On exam day
Arrive at least an hour before the reporting time on your admit card, with the printed e-admit card, a government photo identification, one recent passport size photograph and a black or blue ballpoint pen. No electronic devices are permitted inside the hall.
What the job actually involves
A UIIC AO underwrites new proposals, processes and authorises claims, and supervises branch-level policy administration and staff. Hindi Officer posts additionally handle official Hindi correspondence and Rajbhasha compliance work for the branch or division.
