What Indian Coast Guard Navik/Yantrik is
The Indian Coast Guard recruits Navik and Yantrik personnel through this exam into a distinct armed force from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, responsible for coastal security, maritime law enforcement, and search and rescue in India’s waters. Navik covers General Duty and Domestic Branch posts, while Yantrik covers technical, engineering-focused posts in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics streams, each with its own qualification requirement.
Because the Coast Guard is a separate service from the three covered by NDA and CDS elsewhere on this site, its recruitment, ranks, and posting locations follow its own structure rather than the Army/Navy/Air Force cadre system.
Who can apply
For Navik (General Duty), a Class 12 pass with Physics and Mathematics is required. For Navik (Domestic Branch), a Class 10 pass is required. For Yantrik, a Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering is required. The general age band is roughly 18 to 22 years as on the date specified in the notification, with standard relaxations for reserved categories.
How the selection process runs
The Computer Based Examination is an objective test covering Mathematics, Physics, English, and General Knowledge, with the exact weighting varying slightly by post, and negative marking for wrong answers as specified in the notification. Candidates who clear the written cutoff proceed to a Physical Fitness Test, checking running, and other physical standards the Coast Guard sets for seagoing personnel.
Document Verification follows, checking educational certificates, identity documents, and category certificates against the application. A Medical Examination, with standards specific to seagoing duty, is the final stage before enrolment. There is no separate interview for these posts.

On exam day
Arrive at least an hour before the reporting time on your admit card, with the printed admit card and a government photo identification matching the name and photo on the admit card.
