What the Agenzia delle Entrate competition is
The Agenzia delle Entrate is Italy’s tax administration. It assesses and collects the main national taxes, runs the tax registry and the cadastre, and carries out audits and disputes. Its core recruiting grade is the funzionario with a profilo giuridico-tributario, the officer who applies tax law in assessment, litigation and taxpayer assistance work.
Unlike most Italian ministries, the Agenzia recruits directly rather than through the RIPAM single competition. Its notices are published on its own portal and on inPA, and because they are among the few large graduate entry routes with a single written test and no oral, they attract very high application volumes. The 2025 notice for 2,700 funzionari giuridico-tributari is the reference edition: applications closed on 11 August 2025 and Simone Concorsi reported figures approaching 100,000 applications for the 2,700 posts.
Who can apply
Entry is at graduate level, but a three year laurea is enough. The bando lists the qualifying degree classes, reported as Scienze dei servizi giuridici, Scienze dell’Amministrazione e dell’Organizzazione, Scienze politiche e delle relazioni internazionali, Scienze economiche, and Scienze dell’Economia e della gestione aziendale. Candidates holding a diploma di laurea of the old system, or a laurea specialistica or magistrale in law, political science or economics, are also admitted under the equivalences set out in the notice.
The degree classes matter more than the subject name on the certificate. Italian degrees carry a classe code, and it is the code that the bando matches against. Candidates who read only the plain language list, without checking the class of their own degree, are the ones who discover a problem after applying.
The selection: one written test
The structure is unusually compact. Recent editions have used a single written test, with no preselection and no oral. The test is multiple choice, marked out of thirty, and passed with at least 21 out of 30. Candidates who clear that threshold enter the merit ranking and, in ranking order, are assigned to the regional offices listed in the notice.
The syllabus is the working knowledge of a tax officer: tax law and the elements of the theory of taxation, civil law, commercial law, administrative law, business accounting, and elements of criminal law with particular attention to offences against the public administration. The test also verifies English language competence and familiarity with the common software applications.
For the 2,700 post competition the written test ran over three days, on 29, 30 and 31 October 2025, in nine Italian cities. Candidates were assigned to a city on the basis of the residence declared in their application, which is one more reason to fill that field carefully rather than automatically.
Applying through inPA
Applications are submitted exclusively on inPA, the single national portal for public sector recruitment. Access requires a digital identity: SPID, the Carta d’Identita Elettronica, a Carta Nazionale dei Servizi or eIDAS credentials. The 2,700 post competition carried a participation contribution of 10 euro paid at submission.
Two practical points follow. First, the identity credential has to exist before the window opens, because SPID enrolment involves identity verification by an accredited provider and is not instant. Second, once submitted, the declarations in the application, degree class, residence, reserved category, are what the administration will check against documents later.
What to watch for next
Recruitment plans beyond the 2,700 post competition have been set out in the Agenzia’s PIAO, its integrated planning document, and reported as covering further funzionari and assistenti intakes across 2026 to 2028. Those are plans, not notices. Post counts, exam structures and dates are fixed only when a bando is published. Until then, the position is that no new competition is confirmed here, and the official links above are where confirmation will appear first.
