What the Tripura TCS/TPS exam is
The Tripura Public Service Commission’s Combined Competitive Examination recruits into Tripura Civil Service (TCS) Grade II and Tripura Police Service (TPS) Grade II posts through one combined exam, the state’s own civil service route for candidates who want to serve within Tripura rather than compete for a central posting through UPSC CSE.
Who can apply
The qualification requirement is a Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university. The general age band is 21 to 40 years, with a five year relaxation for SC, ST and PH candidates, and separate relaxation for serving government servants under Tripura government rules. How the exam runs
The Preliminary Examination is a single General Studies paper worth two hundred marks, two and a half hours, covering General Science, History of India, Geography of India and Tripura specifically, Indian Polity and Economy, and Mental Ability. It is a screening stage that does not itself decide final merit. The Main Examination is worth eight hundred marks across written, descriptive papers whose exact subjects and per-paper marks are set out in the specific notification. Candidates who clear the Main proceed to an Interview worth one hundred marks. Across the full selection scheme, Prelims plus Main plus Interview totals eleven hundred marks, though only Main and Interview marks count toward the final merit list, the same structure most Prelims-Mains-Interview state exams use.
Preparing the application

The application fee is two hundred rupees for general and OBC candidates, and one hundred fifty rupees for SC, ST, BPL and PWD candidates.
On exam day
Carry the printed admit card and an original government photo identification matching the name and photo on the admit card. No electronic devices are permitted inside the examination hall.
A note on the Main Examination’s detail
This page states the Prelims pattern, the Main’s total marks, and the Interview’s marks with confidence, since these held consistent across the sources checked. The Main Examination’s paper-by-paper subject and marks breakdown, however, was not found with the same confidence; treat the eight hundred mark total as reliable and confirm the specific papers and per-paper weighting against TPSC’s own current notification before building a subject-by-subject study plan.
