What EPFO Assistant is
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation recruits Assistants through its own exam into its retirement savings and social security administration work, distinct from EPFO’s more senior Enforcement Officer/Account Officer posts, which carry their own separate recruitment process not covered by this page. EPFO manages provident fund, pension, and insurance accounts for millions of Indian employees, so this post sits within a large, nationwide administrative operation rather than a single office.
Because the role deals directly with social security administration, the Mains stage carries a General Awareness section weighted toward social security and labour law topics specifically, which is not typical of general clerical exams.
Who can apply
A Bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognised university is the only academic requirement. The general age band is roughly 18 to 27 years as on the date specified in the notification, with standard relaxations for reserved categories and persons with disability.
How the exam runs
The Prelims is a shorter objective test covering General English, Quantitative Aptitude, and General Intelligence, with negative marking for wrong answers as specified in the notification. Only candidates who clear the Prelims cutoff advance.
The Mains is a longer objective test covering General English, General Awareness with a focus on social security and labour laws, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning, and Computer Knowledge. There is no interview stage: final selection is based directly on the Mains score, subject to the sectional and overall cutoffs EPFO sets each cycle.
Preparing the application
EPFO specifies exact photograph and signature requirements in each notification rather than a fixed year to year standard, so check the current notification’s dimensions and file size before uploading. The tools on this site can resize your photograph to whatever specific target the notification states.
On exam day
Arrive at least an hour before the reporting time on your admit card, with the printed admit card and a government photo identification matching the name and photo on the admit card. No electronic devices are permitted inside the exam centre.
The official EPFO website, linked above, carries the current vacancies, syllabus, and schedule for the cycle you are applying to.
