What UPPSC PCS-J is
The Uttar Pradesh Provincial Civil Service (Judicial Branch) exam, commonly called UP PCS-J, is UPPSC’s route into the state’s judicial services, appointing successful candidates as Civil Judge (Junior Division). How the exam runs
The Preliminary Examination is an objective test covering General Knowledge and Law, with negative marking for wrong answers as specified in the notification. Only candidates who clear the Preliminary cutoff advance.
The Main Examination consists of conventional, descriptive papers covering General Knowledge, language papers, and Law papers specific to the judicial role, testing depth of legal knowledge and written expression rather than objective recall.
Candidates who clear the Main Examination sit an Interview, referred to as the Viva Voce. Final selection combines Main Examination marks and Interview marks, followed by a medical examination before appointment.
