What the concurso da Caixa is
The Caixa Economica Federal is the second-largest banco publico of Brazil after the Banco do Brasil, a empresa publica vinculated to the Ministerio da Fazenda, and it holds a set of atribuicoes no other Brazilian bank has: the operationalisation of the loterias federais, the management of the FGTS, the payment of the Bolsa Familia and other transferencias de renda, and the political direction of the credito imobiliario, especially the programa Minha Casa Minha Vida. The concurso da Caixa recruits into the carreira administrativa of the Caixa, primarily for the cargo of Tecnico Bancario Novo (TBN), at nivel medio, and for cargos de nivel superior in specific technical areas such as Medico do Trabalho and Engenheiro de Seguranca do Trabalho. Unlike servidores federais, Caixa employees are contratados pelo regime celetista (CLT), not estatutario, and the vinculo is with the empresa publica, not directly with the Uniao. Banca and the 2024 cycle
The last completed edital, the concurso Caixa 2024, was published on 28 February 2024 and organised by the Fundacao Cesgranrio, the banca that historically applies the concursos of the federal banks. The prova objetiva and prova discursiva were applied on 26 May 2024. The edital offered 4,050 vagas: 2,000 for TBN carreira administrativa, 2,000 for TBN na area de Tecnologia da Informacao, and 50 for nivel superior split between 28 vagas for Medico do Trabalho and 22 for Engenheiro de Seguranca do Trabalho. Registration was open between 29 February and 25 March 2024, with a taxa de inscricao of R$ 50,00 for nivel medio cargos and R$ 65,00 for nivel superior.
The two-phase structure
The Cesgranrio concurso da Caixa runs as a prova objetiva combined with a prova discursiva (redacao), on the same date. The objetiva is a folha de respostas of multiple-choice items split into Conhecimentos Basicos, which cover Lingua Portuguesa, Matematica, Nocoes de Informatica, Atualidades and Etica no Servico Publico, and Conhecimentos Especificos, which for the carreira administrativa cover Conhecimentos Bancarios (produtos e servicos, mercado financeiro, sistema financeiro nacional, tecnicas de vendas, atendimento ao cliente e prevencao a lavagem de dinheiro), and for the area de TI a bloco tecnico de disciplinas de Tecnologia da Informacao (redes, seguranca, banco de dados, engenharia de software and desenvolvimento). The redacao is a dissertacao evaluated against Cesgranrio’s public criteria of estrutura, conteudo and linguagem, applied only to candidates classified within the corte on the objetiva.
Vinculo celetista and salaries
Because the Caixa is empresa publica and hires under the CLT, the aprovado enters as empregado publico, not as servidor. There is no estagio probatorio in the estatutario sense: the contrato de trabalho has an ordinary experiencia clause and the empregado is then effective. There is no estabilidade constitucional in the sense given to servidores publicos, although jurisprudencia consolidates the dispensa motivada requirement for empresas publicas after Sumula 390 II do TST. The starting remuneracao under the 2024 edital was R$ 3,762.00 for TBN, plus vale-alimentacao, cesta-alimentacao and beneficios do plano de saude. Medico do Trabalho started at R$ 11,186.00 and Engenheiro de Seguranca do Trabalho at R$ 14,915.00.
Lotacao and jornada
The Caixa is distributed nationally through agencias, superintendencias, and unidades administrativas, and the vagas of the edital are distributed by state and by microrregiao. The candidate chooses one microrregiao at inscription, and the lotacao is inside that microrregiao in ordem de classificacao. The jornada padrao is of thirty horas semanais at the balcao de agencia, extended in specific technical postos. TBN in the carreira administrativa performs atendimento ao cliente, operacoes de caixa where the estrutura da agencia still runs one, tratamento de operacoes de credito, e operacionalizacao de programas sociais como FGTS e Bolsa Familia. TBN de TI performs sustentacao and desenvolvimento de sistemas at the tecnologia unidades of the banco.
What candidates get wrong
Conhecimentos Bancarios is the differentiator, because Cesgranrio consistently writes it as an operational programa, not a theoretical one, and candidates who study from a textbook of academic finance without touching the produtos e servicos of the banks arrive under-prepared. The correta preparation for Conhecimentos Bancarios reads the CMN and BACEN normativos and the produtos que a rede da Caixa efetivamente vende. Redacao is the second failure point: an aprovado in the objetiva who writes a redacao without estrutura tese-argumentacao-conclusao is discarded on the espelho de correcao, even with strong content, because the criterios de estrutura are applied first.
Preparing the application and on exam day
Inscription runs through the Cesgranrio portal for the current edital. The site’s photo-resizer tool can bring a photograph to whatever dimensions the edital states, and its age-calculator confirms the minimum age of eighteen is met on the data-limite. On the day of the prova arrive at the local at least sixty minutes before the horario de fechamento dos portoes on the cartao de confirmacao. Carry the printed cartao, an original photo identification (RG, CNH or passaporte) matching the inscription, and a black ballpoint pen with a transparent barrel. Mobile phones, smartwatches, calculators and any electronic device are banidos.
