What AAI Junior Executive is
The Airports Authority of India recruits Junior Executives across several streams, including Air Traffic Control, Electronics, and Information Technology, to run and maintain India’s civilian airport infrastructure. It is a public sector recruitment exam distinct from airline-side jobs: AAI operates the airports and air traffic systems themselves, not the airlines flying out of them.
Recruitment is stream specific. A candidate applies to one notified stream, and the subject-knowledge portion of the exam, along with any additional stage such as the Voice Test for Air Traffic Control, depends entirely on which stream a candidate has chosen.
Who can apply
A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, Science, or a discipline relevant to the notified stream is required, as specified in the notification; the exact qualification differs by stream (for example, Air Traffic Control typically requires a specific technical degree with notified minimum marks). The general age limit is up to 27 years as on the date specified in the notification, with standard relaxations for reserved categories and persons with disability.
How the exam runs
The Online Examination is an objective test covering General English, General Aptitude, and subject knowledge specific to the candidate’s notified stream, with negative marking as specified in the notification. Candidates applying for the Air Traffic Control stream additionally sit a Voice Test, which checks clarity and audibility of speech relevant to air traffic communication.
Selection proceeds from the exam and, where applicable, the Voice Test, to Document Verification and a Medical Examination before appointment. AAI does not conduct a separate general Interview for this post.
Preparing the application
AAI specifies exact photograph and signature requirements in each notification rather than a fixed year to year standard, so check the current notification’s dimensions and file size before uploading. On exam day
Arrive at least an hour before the reporting time on your admit card, with the printed admit card and a government photo identification matching the name and photo on the admit card. No electronic devices are permitted inside the exam centre.
