What ICAR AIEEA is
The All India Entrance Examination for Admission, commonly called ICAR AIEEA, is the national entrance test for admission into agricultural universities across India, conducted by the National Testing Agency on behalf of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research. It is the primary route into a government funded undergraduate, postgraduate, or doctoral seat in Agriculture and allied subjects such as Horticulture, Forestry, Fisheries Science, and Agricultural Engineering.
This is an admission exam rather than a recruitment exam: clearing it gets you a seat in a degree programme, not a government job directly. Most candidates on this site’s other agriculture-adjacent pages are looking at ICAR AIEEA as the first step toward a career that later routes through degree-holder specific recruitment.
Who can apply
For the undergraduate stream, a Class 12 pass with Physics, Chemistry, and either Biology or Mathematics, depending on the specific programme, is required. For the postgraduate and doctoral streams, a relevant Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture or an allied subject is required, as specified in that year’s notification. Age and relaxation details are set out per stream in the notification, since the streams admit candidates at different educational stages.
How the exam runs
ICAR AIEEA is a single computer based objective test. The undergraduate stream tests Physics, Chemistry, and either Biology or Mathematics depending on the programme the candidate is targeting. There is no interview or physical test at the entrance stage; admission follows directly from the merit list this exam produces, combined with seat allocation through the centralised counselling process ICAR runs afterward.
Preparing the application
NTA specifies exact photograph and signature requirements in each notification rather than a fixed year to year standard, so check the current notification’s dimensions and file size before uploading. The tools on this site can resize your photograph to whatever specific target the notification states.
On exam day
Arrive at least an hour before the reporting time on your admit card, with the printed admit card and a government photo identification matching the name and photo on the admit card. No electronic devices are permitted inside the exam centre.
The official ICAR and NTA websites, linked above, carry the current syllabus, programme-wise eligibility, and schedule for the exam and the counselling that follows it.
